Jon Buller usually limits his school and library visits to Connecticut and Rhode Island. (Susan Schade doesn't do them at all.)
The current presentation is called HOW TO DRAW A MAN LOOKING OVER A FENCE. While drawing pictures on a large sheet of watercolor paper that has been previously colored, Buller tells how he started drawing as a kid, and how that eventually led to a career of drawing pictures for a living. Then he produces another sheet of pre-colored paper and asks the kids to contribute ideas, which he illustrates, for a story of their own. The resulting drawings become the property of the sponsoring organization. Finally there is a question-and-answer session about writing stories and drawing pictures, and anything else the kids might want to know.
The presentation can include a book signing or not, depending on the policy of the school or library.
The charge is $250 for the first presentation, and $150 for each additional presentation on the same day. There is an additional mileage charge of $50 if the destination is more than 50 miles from Lyme, Connecticut.
